Inspired by Dylanlex

While in design school, I got most of my inspiration from fashion icons and designers. One of my favorite jewelry designers is Drew Ginsburg, designer of the iconic Dylanlex; a harsh, super-edgy jewelry brand with a cult-like following. Not only am I obsessed with her armor-like necklaces but I'm constantly inspired by her bold personal style; a mixture of risk-taking silhouettes and total bad-girl attitude. She's a pro at pairing the unexpected with the unexpected. Several of my posts in years past have had her style as my underlying inspiration. If you don't follow her on Instagram - you should (@dylanlex).

I'll be honest - I've ogled over her jewelry designs for years now, and hope that maybe one day I can afford what I believe is a true piece of art in accessory form. But for now, I must make do with a few pieces I found at a local thrift shop mixed with few sentimental necklaces passed down to me by my great grandmother. Without putting much thought into it, I let the necklaces take lead and layered them around my neck until they looked cohesive and unified. I must admit I love the way it turned out!

Blouse: Anthropologie (cheaper versions here and here), Jeans: Levi's, Bootie: old Madewell, Rings & bracelets: Anarchy Street (use code MELISSAD20 for 20% off your purchase), Necklaces: Thrifted and heirlooms (this necklace is a PERFECT, much less expensive copy!)
