At Work at The Dartmouth
Welcome back! I'm excited to show you this colorful space! Most of you know that I started my own styling business last September, and I was so excited to use their conference room to plan an editorial photoshoot for a client. I provide personal styling, commercial styling, editorial styling, and now bridal styling services and the expanse of work space I had thanks to this black glass top table kept me so organized!
Although Pinterest allows me to easily communicate the creative direction of a shoot with photographers or models, I prefer to look at magazine clippings. I'm already on my computer a lot for blogging, so I try my best to stay away from screens whenever I can! This table allowed me to really spread out and connect the dots and see everything in front of me clearly. I typically begin my process with one inspirational image, and build off from it. My pile can accumulate fast; I pull clippings for hair, makeup, mood, setting, colors, movement, or poses. Most of the time I'm working on the floor, so I felt pampered working on the table in The Dartmouth conference room.
The sliding doors added privacy so I could shut myself off from any distractions, but the wall of windows allowed light to come in so I didn't feel trapped. I could never work in an office with no windows or a cubicle. I need to be able to have natural light or step outside when needed. With the door closed, I could make phone calls as I pleased or even grab a coffee from the coffee station (not pictured, but I promise it's there). For a coffee addict like myself, that amenity was my favorite. This room is a perfect place to meet one of my brides and her fiancé, or an entire editorial team; not to mention the space is pretty inspiring on its own.
On Monday I announced that I’m giving away a $50 North Hills gift card on my Instagram, so if you would like to enter the giveaway, follow these simple guidelines. The winner will be announced on Friday at 5pm EST, so there are only two days left! Good luck!
